We are currently recruiting for a Part-time Healthcare Assistant position for a Residential Care Home in Ennis, Co Clare.
Flexible shift patterns (day and night shifts) with Level 5 QQI required.
***Minimum of 4 hours per week.***
Job Description
* Assisting residents with their hygiene needs, such as bathing, hair care, dressing, and undressing.
* Helping those who need assistance at mealtimes.
* Ensuring dietary needs are adhered to, including special diets and supplementary drinks under the direction of the nursing staff. Reporting if any client is not eating/drinking.
* The mobilization of clients, including assisting the nursing staff to turn and reposition using appropriate aids (e.g., hoists, sliding sheets). Helping those who need assistance with walking and limb exercises as directed. Ensuring clients are comfortable in bed or in chairs.
* Escorting clients within and, in some circumstances, outside the residence.
* Reporting to nursing staff any complaints of pain, distress, etc., from clients.
* Cleaning and restocking linen presses/wardrobes and ensuring personal clothing is in the correct locker/wardrobe. Ensuring correct laundry bags are used, tied, labeled, and brought to laundry.
* Care of incontinent clients, promoting continence awareness among clients who are confined to bed with their toilet needs.
* Toileting of clients, including giving, removing, and emptying commodes and the use of a washer-disinfector.
* Disposing of waste, including clinical waste.
* Making a positive difference to the elderly and most vulnerable by providing care in the community.
* Helping people with their daily activities.
* The safeguarding of those we care for.
* Supporting social interactions and activities.
* Protecting against loneliness and isolation in the community.
Requirements
* Level 5 QQI in Care Assistant
* A can-do attitude
* Experience in a similar role
* A good working knowledge of English
* A knowledge and willingness to apply safe working practices
* A knowledge of how to use equipment necessary to carry out the assigned tasks.
* Garda vetting required.
