Category Manager

About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Global Category Manager to lead and manage relationships with Contract Manufacturers for goods destined for global distribution. This pivotal role focuses on optimizing the performance of our contract manufacturing partners to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and agility in delivering goods to market.
This is a strategic individual contributor global role that offers the opportunity to work across regions, categories, and stakeholders to deliver impactful results. We welcome candidates from any sector, including but not limited to consumer goods, retail, pharmaceuticals, automotive, electronics, or food and beverages.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy Development:
* Develop and execute a global strategy for contract manufacturing that aligns with organizational objectives and ensures scalability, efficiency, and innovation.
* Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to identify opportunities and trends within the category.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs), fostering partnerships that drive performance and continuous improvement.
* Lead supplier negotiations, ensuring optimal terms and conditions while mitigating risks.
* Monitor and manage supplier performance through KPIs and scorecards, addressing issues proactively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, R&D, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of goods.
* Support product launches by ensuring contract manufacturers meet project timelines and quality standards.
Financial and Operational Excellence:
* Drive cost optimization initiatives while ensuring quality and compliance standards.
* Manage budgets and report on category performance, savings, and risk mitigation strategies.
Compliance and Risk Management:
* Ensure adherence to global regulations and standards within the contract manufacturing network.
* Identify and mitigate risks associated with supply continuity, quality, and cost fluctuations.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
* Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or category management. Experience managing contract manufacturers is highly desirable.
* Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and supplier relationship skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed, and global environment.
* Analytical mindset with expertise in data-driven decision-making.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
