Purpose of Role
The Ophthalmic Area Manager will serve as a key interface with target customers in the ophthalmic products space.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. This is a sales role that involves presenting, demonstrating, and securing orders. The ability to work independently and identify sales opportunities is crucial.
2. The candidate will develop lasting business relationships with key customers.
3. Meet quarterly and annual sales targets.
4. Assist customers with clinical, technical, and commercial inquiries.
5. Conduct business planning and implementation within the area of responsibility, identifying new business opportunities and assessing client and market potential.
6. Gather, present, and interpret market and competitor information in a systematic manner.
7. Provide feedback on customers, promotional programs, and environmental changes, suggesting improvements to product and company performance.
8. Implement new product launches and corporate activities within the area of responsibility.
9. Attend relevant conferences and meetings.
Role Requirements
1. A proven track record in sales of at least 3 years, preferably in medical sales.
2. A clinical background is an advantage.
3. Comfortable working in operating theatres.
4. Target-driven with the ability to close sales.
5. Excellent communication skills to deliver a positive image of the company and its products.
6. Strong organizational and planning skills are essential, along with a high reliance on personal drive and initiative.
7. Commercial awareness, excellent interpersonal, and influencing skills to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
8. Necessary education and practical experience to handle complex medical device technologies.
9. An outgoing and persuasive personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
10. Proficiency in general business computer tools and applications.
11. A full driver's license.
