The Organisation:
2rn distributes and transmits the programme services of RTÉ Radio and Television. 2rn also provide transmission services to local and regional radio broadcasters and transmission site services/facilities to mobile telephone and broadband operators, private communications companies and the emergency services.
2rn is a wholly owned subsidiary of RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann). RTÉ is Ireland's national public-service media organisation.
Purpose of Job:
As an integral member of the projects team reporting to the Head of Projects & Frequency planning, the Project Manager will effectively manage, and complete a portfolio of individual capital projects, ensuring that the objectives of projects are achieved and contribute to the development of the overall business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Scoping, planning and completing capital projects to budget, timeline and quality standards.
* Risk management - identifying and assessing risks, ensuring all work carried out or equipment installed is safe, effective and in compliance with appropriate legal and industry standards, and company policies.
* Managing stakeholders and coordinating resources, internal and external, including operational staff, contractors, customers and local/planning authorities etc.
* Monitoring and reporting on progress of projects and adapting to change as required.
* Management of public procurement for individual capital projects and management of contracts with suppliers.
* Providing support for other 2RN activities.
Knowledge and Experience:
* Hold a relevant third level qualification together with significant experience in one of the following areas: TV/Radio Broadcasting, Telecommunications, System Monitoring & Control, Electronics, Infrastructure Projects.
* Minimum 6 years experience of managing projects - ideally in the telecoms/broadcast area, including experience of construction projects.
* Ideally hold a formal Project Management qualification or committed to undertaking same.
* Have a good understanding of Health & Safety legislation & experience of managing Health and Safety in construction.
* Experience of managing interface with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Possess good report writing skills together with strong problem solving & decision-making skills.
* Ability to multitask, work to deadlines and operate in a matrix reporting environment.
* Demonstrate initiative, excellent communication, interpersonal, and planning & organisational skills together with the ability to work effectively on their own and as a part of a team.
* To be successful the Project Manager will be performance and results orientated, embrace problem solving and decision making, and need to effectively manage their time and activities to deliver results within defined timelines.
* Hold a current full driving licence and available for regular travel to regional sites.
Remuneration:
This appointment will be made on an ongoing, full-time contract basis on the Manager Grade 3 salary range of €49,542 to €83,134 gross per annum.
