Staff Grade Physiotherapist – Acute
We are currently seeking a proactive and skilled Staff Grade Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy Department within an acute hospital setting in County Louth. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy services to patients with a wide range of acute medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and respiratory conditions.
Responsibilities of Staff Grade Physiotherapist – Acute
* Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop individualised physiotherapy treatment plans for patients admitted to medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and high-dependency wards.
* Deliver rehabilitation, early mobilisation, and discharge planning support in collaboration with the wider clinical team.
* Participate in the respiratory on-call rota (where applicable), providing chest physiotherapy and acute respiratory care.
* Liaise effectively with nursing, medical, occupational therapy, social work, and discharge coordination teams.
* Maintain timely and accurate documentation in line with HSE, CORU, and professional standards.
* Contribute to service planning, clinical audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
* Supervise physiotherapy students on placement and provide support to junior colleagues when required.
* Participate in CPD activities, clinical supervision, and peer support networks.
Requirements of Staff Grade Physiotherapist
* BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU.
* Registered (or registration in process) with CORU.
* Demonstrated clinical experience (e.g., through previous employment or placement) in an acute hospital setting.
* Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
* Flexibility and a patient-centred approach.
