Job Description:
The role of an Electrical Utilities Technician in our team involves working collaboratively with the utilities and engineering departments to plan and schedule maintenance activities. This includes assisting with commissioning, project support, and equipment vendor maintenance.
Responsibilities include managing service or equipment vendors during maintenance activities, ensuring that applicable standards are adhered to. Additionally, liaising with discipline leads to coordinate activities for efficient execution of maintenance tasks.
Maintenance works related to mechanical utilities require all necessary PTW and mechanical isolations to be in place. Developing cost-saving and energy reduction initiatives on utilities systems is also a key aspect of this role.
Updating GMP maintenance documents and drawings to reflect any changes required and to improve operation of maintenance activities is crucial. Conducting corrective and preventative maintenance on all operational equipment is essential.
Proactive problem-solving is required to ensure that operational issues are solved permanently. Ensuring corrective action is taken as required for all equipment and operational problems drives continuous improvement in the plant.
This role requires planning and developing maintenance plans where needed. Operating and maintaining utility systems is a critical responsibility, as is responding to any request from operations for utility-related issues.
Key skills required for this role include an apprenticeship or 3rd level qualification with mechanical experience or electrical experience. A minimum of three years' experience in mechanical/electrical utilities or process maintenance is necessary.
Experience working within the pharmaceutical or biologics industry is mandatory. Strong practical mechanical knowledge is required, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills are essential, as are good interpersonal skills and a self-starter mentality.
This role involves executing mechanical/electrical preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on production systems and equipment, such as pumps, autoclaves, inspection machines, etc., within the production area.
Supporting both the electrical and calibration departments within the production area is also a requirement. Following all relevant SOP's and procedures when completing maintenance tasks is crucial.
All works executed must be recorded on the relevant CMMS systems, and acute awareness of GMP practices is necessary.
Able to read mechanical drawings and system P&ID's, maintain all documentation in an organized and controlled manner, in compliance with client procedures.
Attend daily meetings and provide status updates. Have excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills, which above all pose no risk to health and secondly provide no potential risk to any systems.
Demonstrate ownership and show initiative to resolve issues in a timely manner in a high-paced, schedule-driven environment.
Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Able to read mechanical drawings and P&ID's, an ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and the ability to remain calm and focused when dealing with multiple tasks.
Literacy in computer operating systems and applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, etc.
Possess excellent communication/documentation and interpersonal skills, flexibility, and accountability.
Understanding of instrumentation and associated control systems is highly desirable.
