Role: Senior Construction Safety Engineer
Work Location: Brinny, Cork, Ireland
Contract type: 12 months temporary fixed-term contract

OVERVIEW OF THE TEAM:
Global Engineering Solutions (GES) is organized in a Technology organization (responsible for the design of projects) and a Delivery organization (responsible for the realization of projects). The GES cEU Delivery organization supports the delivery of projects to all company sites on the continent of Europe Human Health as well as Animal Health.
With a mixture of experienced project managers, project engineers, cost controllers, schedulers and estimators in cooperation with external partners (EPCM and or General Contractor), the project will be managed together with our Technology colleagues through Front-end loading till Commissioning, Qualification till handover.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Key Roles & Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation of the GES construction safety strategy across the project lifecycle, in particular the Behavior Based Safety program Safe by Choice;
* Review of the Construction and Commissioning & Quality HSE-plans;
* Review of project specific work permits and Safe Plan of Action (SPA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and or Task Risk Assessments (TRA);
* Support/advise the GES project manager during all phases of the project in relation to the project safety performance (leading and lagging indicators);
* Coach/support the EPCM safety professional with the GES practices and procedures;
* Coach/support the contractors with the GES practices and procedures;
* Roll out / implement the safety incentive plan;
* Participate in the EHSE checklist review;
* Participate in the constructability reviews;
* Track safety statistics and initiate improvement plans if needed;
* Monitor and Evaluate the EPCM Safety Performance against Project Plan and identify improvements as required;
* Establish relationships with clients and the local GSE team and get familiar with the local (safety) procedures;
* Lead and/or support incident investigations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field of education;
* At least five years of experience in a comparable environment (pharmaceutical, oil and gas, and or food industry);
* Proven construction safety management excellence, demonstrated over multiple assignments;
* Knowledge of Pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing facilities and plant operations are highly desirable;
* Subject Matter Expert in respect to safety;
* Familiar with MS Office;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
