A Health and Safety Officer is sought to join a medical device engineering company in Sligo on a permanent contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety statutory requirements and company procedures.
Responsibilities
* Liaise with staff to ensure compliance with current H&S statutory requirements and company procedures.
* Manage Health and Safety documentation, including training records, machinery certification, and other statutory H&S records.
* Delve into continual improvement of current safety practices.
* Provide expert advice, guidance, and instruction in all health & safety matters to management, safety representatives, and employees (including sub-contractors where appropriate).
* Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and company management. Strict follow-up is required to ensure that corrective actions are dealt with immediately.
* Investigate, record, and report accidents, incidents, and near-misses promptly, ensuring any corrective actions are implemented without delay.
* Manage and recommend Personal Protective Equipment required for all Employees.
* Conduct biannual site evacuation drills and complete risk assessments on equipment.
Qualifications
* Hold a relevant Health & Safety Qualification/Degree.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation, Standards, and Best Practice.
* Previous experience in a Health & Safety role in the manufacturing industry.
