Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) - Scheduled Care Lead
Fixed Term (1 year) Contract, Full Time Hours
The ADON Scheduled Care Lead is professionally accountable and reports to the Director of Nursing, Mercy University Hospital (MUH).
Responsibilities:
* Participate in the appropriate and effective management of services.
* Participate in the development of the assigned scheduled care service plan and in the monitoring and review of activity against the plans.
* Participate in the overall financial planning of the service including the assessment of priorities in pay and non-pay expenditure.
* Provide innovative and effective leadership, support and advice to staff in the assigned areas of responsibility, specifically with regard to scheduled care.
* Develop and implement the strategic direction of waiting list management in line with National Programmes.
* Implement and monitor a standardized Inpatient Day Case and Planned Procedure (IDPP) Standard Operating Procedure that meets and is consistent with the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) Protocol.
* Manage own case load in accordance with the needs of the post.
* Create and maintain an environment conducive to learning and quality improvement.
* Contribute to service development through appropriate continuous education, research initiatives, keeping up to date with relevant literature and education and attend staff study days as considered appropriate.
* Ensure that effective safety procedures are in place, which comply with local, national and statutory requirements.
* Monitor capacity and demand planning to identify variances in capacity at the end of each calendar year.
* Ensure safe systems are in place for the timely treatment of patients in other health care facilities, including handover and follow up in MUH if applicable.
* Attend performance meetings with the South/Southwest Hospital Group (SSWHG) and Acute Division Hospital Leadership team as required.
Eligibility Criteria: Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
* Are registered, or are eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division, and other divisions as relevant to the specific service, of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, as appropriate, maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI/Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hEireann).
* Have 7 years post registration nursing experience and 3 years recent nursing management experience at a minimum of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) in an acute setting.
* Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider, which verifies that the applicant has achieved a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 8 or higher award maintained by Quality & Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) or can provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 8 or higher standard in a health care or management related area.
* Candidates must possess the requisite clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
