EHS Manager

Role:
Our client is seeking an EHS Manager to join their team in Co. Wicklow. The position is a one-year contract role. The EHS Manager will ensure that employees and the workplace adhere to safe practices and comply with current health and safety legislation. This role involves reviewing, monitoring, and implementing the company’s health and safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and performing site inspections to identify and control potential hazards. The position also includes responsibility for environmental reporting as required by the EPA.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee the review, planning, and implementation of health and safety policies.
* Develop and improve safety management systems to ensure the site is operated in compliance with EHS standards.
* Manage incidents, accidents, and near misses, including investigation and reporting.
* Collaborate with colleagues to promote and sustain a positive safety culture.
* Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior management with strict follow-up to ensure timely action.
* Identify, provide, and coordinate EHS training for staff, both internally and externally.
* Manage contractors on-site from an EHS perspective.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives in EHS practices.
* Maintain EHS documentation, including reports, permits, policies, procedures, and compliance records.
* Oversee stock control of EHS consumables.
* Ensure compliance with the site’s IPC licence as issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
* Perform internal and external audits of the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
* Support Environmental Consultants to meet IPC licence obligations.
* Facilitate and attend site inspections by the HSA, EPA, and Local Authorities.
* Liaise with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Local Authorities.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in environmental/engineering/quality; a diploma in safety is desirable.
* 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role.
* Experience on a site with an EPA licence is essential.
* Experience on a site with an IPC licence is preferable.
