Financial Controller – Construction
A commercially driven financial controller with experience in the construction industry is sought to join our team. The ideal candidate will thrive in fast-paced environments, leading teams and optimising financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Partnering with the finance director to drive the financial strategy and performance of the business.
* Leading and managing a finance team of four, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
* Overseeing all aspects of payroll, supplier, and subcontractor financial functions.
* Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, along with other financial reports.
* Maintaining and managing multi-currency and multi-jurisdictional transactions, ensuring compliance.
* Reviewing and authorising payment files on banking platforms.
* Ensuring full regulatory compliance (VAT, tax, and other financial obligations across various jurisdictions).
* Preparing annual budgets and cashflow forecasts (short-term and long-term).
* Collaborating with the commercial department to ensure accuracy in cost estimations for projects.
* Supporting external audits and working with tax advisors and global payroll teams.
* Driving continuous improvement, streamlining financial processes, and implementing efficiencies.
Requirements:
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with a minimum of three years post-qualification experience.
* Five or more years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry.
* Strong understanding of European accounting principles, currency transfers, and multi-jurisdictional finance.
* Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams in a dynamic environment.
* Highly commercially aware, with a proactive, results-driven mindset.
* Strong IT skills, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to provide actionable financial insights.
* High levels of integrity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
* A full driver's licence is required due to the location.
