The Coinbase Internal Audit is an independent, third line function that reports directly to the Coinbase Audit Committee and has an administrative (dotted line) report to the CFO. The purpose and mission of Internal Audit is to objectively evaluate and audit the effectiveness of governance, compliance, risk management, and control process. The in-house Coinbase Internal Audit team is responsible for strategic analysis, risk assessments, development of the audit plan, project management, quality review, report issuance and issue validation across IT and business functions. By executing all aspects of audits, including planning, walkthroughs, testing, deficiency remediation, and report writing in accordance with the Irish regulatory requirements, you'll play a key role in strengthening our position as the industry leader by evaluating the effectiveness of management’s ability to control potential events or threats and ultimately add value to all our stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
7. As a part of a global internal audit team and working closely with out-sourced team(s), develop next generation audit practices to maintain a best-in-class global internal audit function
8. Responsible for tracking and evaluating the adequacy and timeliness of management's response and the corrective action taken on internal audit findings, including validation of remediation activities
9. Remain current and increase knowledge of regulatory requirements that impact the organization, as well as in the areas of internal control, risk management, compliance, accounting, business, company products and company information
10. Responsible for supporting Coinbase’s internal audit plan through the execution of financial, operational and compliance related audits from beginning to end. Key activities include audit planning, stakeholder management, fieldwork execution, reporting and validation of remediated audit findings
11. Develop audit reports on the effectiveness of the internal control structure for an executive level audience, ensuring reported findings are appropriately documented and supported by evidence
12. Assist in the preparation of internal audit materials for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors
13. Develop customized and valuable solutions to issues identified during the course of audits performed
14. Validate the effectiveness of control function by leading periodic control certifications for all documented controls
15. Establish and maintain trusted relationships with business unit management across all levels
16. Work closely with both first and second lines of defense to maximize meetings utility, testing efficiencies and internal controls review coverage across the organization
17. Work with external audit and other third party assessors to maximize external audit reliance on internal audit ICFR testing where possible
18. Serve as a value-add and advisory function to business partners by identifying ways to address audit findings or opportunities for enhancements with the goal of mitigating risk and improving financial and operational performance without compromising 3rd Line of Defense independence and objectivity
19. Assist with responses to regulatory inquiries as they relate to internal audit matters
20. Manage and perform ad-hoc investigations/audits/reviews as required
21. Communicate with and educate process owners effectively, including non-finance individuals, on the importance of controls, an effective control environment, and the role of Internal Auditor
22. Promote new ideas / innovative means of executing projects and internal infrastructure enhancements focused on process or technology improvements
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
23. Bachelors / Masters Degree in accounting/finance/economics or computer science/management information systems
24. 3+ years of experience in internal or external Audit, Advisory, Management Consulting or IT Consulting
25. Excellent understanding of an internal control environment and working knowledge of Irish specific regulatory compliance and within the financial services industry Central Bank of Ireland, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti Money Laundering, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance
26. Public accounting experience and/or relevant industry experience preferred
27. Proven project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and deadlines
28. Solid analytical and problem solving skills, with high standards for quality, accuracy and attention to detail
29. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
30. Self-driven, ability to work independently and in a team environment
31. Excellent understanding of data analysis techniques
32. Demonstrated proficiency in Google Suite or MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
33. Ability to travel regionally, at times internationally

36. Experience working with/in an out-sourced or co-sourced internal audit function

38. Understanding of crypto, payments and/or financial services industry and experience in auditing information systems and controls
