Vacancy for Training Manager and Digital Archivist
Our team at the Digital Repository of Ireland is seeking a highly skilled professional to take on a challenging role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Training:
o We are looking for someone who can chair a training working group, overseeing the development of a five-year training plan that aligns with our new strategic goals.
o The ideal candidate will have excellent understanding of membership and stakeholder requirements, enabling them to provide high-quality training and collections support.
o Duties include delivering workshops and seminars on using our repository, ingest, and data preparation and cleaning, as well as assisting members with collection preparation issues.
o A key focus area will be developing a training plan that improves workflows and uses data preparation and cleaning tools to enhance collections for batch ingest.
o The successful candidate will also ensure that our training meets accessibility requirements.
o Additionally, they will deliver user interface/user experience workshops to inform training and development plans.
* Digital Archives:
o This role involves providing expert advice on format, metadata, and licensing guidelines, as well as administering user accounts and responding to depositor queries.
o Cleaning metadata for digitised and born-digital cultural heritage and social science collections is also a critical part of this position.
o Liaising with our technical team and depositors to troubleshoot ingesting of collections and facilitate efficient publication is essential.
o Participating in taskforces and working groups will also be required.
o The successful candidate will represent our work at public events and professional conferences.
o Developing and documenting our internal digital archiving workflows will be an important aspect of this role.
