Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer
We are working in partnership with a Northern Ireland Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy company to hire a Geotechnical Engineer.
The successful candidate will deliver innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across various sectors, including Built Environment, Infrastructure, Public Health, Marine and River, Renewable Energy, and Specialist Services.
The consultancy company has over 60 years of experience in civil, structural, water, wastewater, traffic engineering, and other specialized advice, including CDMC services and consulting support both locally and globally.
The company has received several awards from professional and civic bodies recognizing their excellent service.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct desktop studies and site walkover surveys.
* Manage and oversee ground investigation work, from procurement to reporting.
* Prepare contract documents, including specifications, mini Bills of Quantities (Bo Qs), and testing requirements for site investigations.
* Review factual reports from site investigations and create interpretive reports assessing soil parameters, providing foundation recommendations, and addressing groundwater and contamination issues.
* Coordinate with design teams for geotechnical design, offering options for ground improvement techniques and foundation strategies.
* Specify necessary ground improvement works and provide advice on ground settlement.
* Calculate settlements.
* Develop project specifications, which may involve both external standard specifications and in-house specifications.
* Perform engineering analyses, such as slope stability analysis, shallow foundation design, pile design, retaining wall design, soil nail and ground anchor design, and piling platform design.
* Design temporary structures for deep excavations.
Requirements:
* A Degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geoinformatics/Geology Engineering.
* Relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering, with good technical knowledge, proficient in the use of geotechnical analysis and design software, and an awareness of recent developments in engineering design and research.
