Role
Mechanical & Electrical Coordinator
As an M&E Coordinator with Kilcawley Construction, you will report directly to a Contracts Manager and assist Project Managers on projects to effectively procure, manage and handover mechanical and electrical subcontractor scope forming part of a larger building project. The role involves actively participating in the safe, timely execution of the works in accordance with the project budgetary, programme and quality requirements.
General Responsibilities
* Support the Contracts Manager and Project Managers to effectively deliver the mechanical and electrical scope on large building projects with values from €3m to €20m.
* Act as the first point of contact for M&E subcontractors and the Design Team on queries.
* Chair and produce minutes for fortnightly MEP Coordination meetings with M&E contractors & the design team to discuss programme, progress, and design matters.
* Maintain oversight of commissioning progress/programme, particularly for safety-critical systems required for Practical Completion.
* Snagging of M&E installations and recording on an iPad App.
* As required, BIM coordination of M&E services within the building across M&E contractors and CSA packages.
* Ensure all MEP Inspection reports are addressed & closed as works progress, ensuring compliance for BCAR.
* Actively communicate with MEP specialists and consultants to ensure all BCAR & O&M/Safety file document requirements are issued timely in advance of handover.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
* Ensure safety-critical mechanical and electrical installations are fully functional prior to handing over a building to a Client.
* Deliver the works in the safest manner possible, with support from the Site Manager, H&S Advisor, and Contracts Manager.
* Assist M&E contractors on-site to execute works per their approved method statement & risk assessment.
* Report all safety incidents and/or accidents to the Safety Advisor & Company Directors in accordance with company protocols.
Technical/Quality Responsibilities
* Full responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects from a time scale & commercial perspective.
* Ensure that the project is delivered on time, snag-free, and to the satisfaction of the Client.
* Maintain a good technical understanding of HVAC systems, fire alarm systems, lighting and emergency systems, LTHW systems, electrical distribution, and commissioning of integrated building systems.
* Coordinate with Contracts Manager, Site Engineers, and Services Coordinator to provide timely and accurate information to subcontractors and site personnel.
Management Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day M&E subcontractor and Design Team queries.
* Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce to ensure timely completion.
* Monitor progress against the Contract Programme and escalate any delays to the Site Manager.
What You Need
* Relevant Third level qualification (Engineering - Mechanical / Electrical).
* Previous Main Contractor experience is desirable.
* Flexibility to travel to various project sites.
* Clean Driving license.
