Our client, a leading company in the medical device industry, is seeking an EHS Officer to join their team in Galway on a permanent contract.
Responsibilities:
* Implement all the client's EH&S policies and procedures and maintain ongoing compliance throughout the company.
* Apply the client's company policies and procedures related to EHS by inspecting plant facilities to identify potential hazards, analyzing operating records and reports, monitoring environmental indicators, responding to and documenting all inquiries regarding environmental or industrial hygiene issues, implementing corrective action where necessary, and ensuring that established procedures are followed correctly.
* Conduct and document H&S Induction and educate employees and new hires about safety policies, regulatory laws and practices, and the company’s expectations around safety.
* Contribute to the further development of the Site’s Safety Statement to include Hazard Identification; Hazard Risk Assessments, and Hazard Control Programmes and participate in their implementation.
* Complete routine Environment, Health & Safety audits covering all areas of the client's Environment Health & Safety System, with prompt and effective follow-up/close-out on all corrective actions defined.
* Lead activities of the Health & Safety Committee, Fire Wardens, First Aiders, Risk Assessors & Emergency Response Teams.
* Create a positive and proactive culture around Environment Health & Safety encouraging active participation throughout the company.
* Work with engineering staff to identify and evaluate potential manufacturing problems, suggestions for waste reduction, or deviations in (EHS) policies and make recommendations for corrections.
Qualifications:
* A level 8 qualification in EH&S or relevant discipline.
* Ideally 3-5 years’ experience working within an EHS function in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience in Digital document management systems would be a distinct advantage.
