Job Description
MHI are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor for their manufacturing plant and offices in Co. Cavan.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare tender documents for submission.
* Analyse tender returns.
* Develop bills of quantities from drawings or tenders, preferably using Cubit software.
* Price/forecast the cost of materials needed for the project.
* Track changes to design and/or construction work, adjusting budget projections accordingly.
* Procure contractor and subcontractor services, negotiate rates, and manage accounts.
* Measure and value work done on site.
* Prepare, submit, and agree interim and final valuations with client representatives.
* Ensure understanding and adherence to contract obligations by stakeholders.
* Negotiate effectively.
* Show proficiency in MS Excel and ability to learn specialist software.
* Write detailed reports.
* Build strong relationships and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrate attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
* Advise Senior Management on issues impacting Company performance.
* Liaise with other departments to implement controls during contract progress.
* Liaise with clients and construction professionals, such as site managers and project managers.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
* Relevant experience working as a QS and degree-level qualification.
* Minimum five years of experience in construction in a similar role.
* Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills.
* Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
* A good work ethic and forward-thinking attitude.
* Commercial and contractual awareness.
* Highly organised individual.
