Nuvo Healthcare is recruiting for a Social Care Worker for our client in County Laois. This is an exciting opportunity for the suitable candidate to provide a direct service to children in residential care. Our client has facilities for mainstream residential care, single occupancy centres, and preparation for leaving care centres. Location: Centres are located in Co. Laois. Changes in location may be directed in accordance with evolving priorities and organisational developments.
Hours of Work: This is a full-time position - up to 48 hours per week. This post entails shift work, which involves weekends/evenings/nights and holiday periods.
Key Responsibilities:
* Policy and Procedures: Follow all organisational policies and procedures while upholding the Safety Statement and Health & Safety Risk Assessments.
* Direct Care and Support: Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met.
* Create a Positive Environment: Promote a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where the young people feel safe, respected, and valued.
* Personal Development: Assist the young people in developing life skills, supporting their education, personal development, and social skills.
* Behavioural Support: Implement positive behaviour management strategies and ensure consistent boundaries are in place.
* Safeguarding: Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, ensuring the welfare and protection of all young people in your care.
* Care Planning: Work collaboratively with the team to contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
* Report Writing & Documentation: Keep accurate records and reports in line with regulatory requirements, providing updates on the child's progress, reporting to Social Care Manager/Social Care Leader/Deputy Leader.
* Team Collaboration: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively with colleagues, managers, families, and external agencies.
Other Responsibilities:
* Carry out general housework and preparation of meals, involving the children as appropriate.
* Ensure that petty cash is reconciled at the commencement and conclusion of every shift.
* Keep accurate and up-to-date records and reports in respect of the individual children and the daily activities of the home.
* Ensure that recording systems are fully completed on a daily basis and that the handover follows the correct procedure to ensure effective communication.
* Agree on a supervision contact with your supervisor and adhere to the conditions agreed.
* Maintain and develop a good understanding of current research and theory in order to keep abreast of ongoing developments in Social Care.
Essential Qualifications:
* BA in Applied Social Care Work (level 7/8) or equivalent.
* A full clean driving licence is desirable.
