Job Description
As a Staff Officer Accountant at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) in Northern Ireland, you will report directly to a Deputy Principal within the Finance Branch. This role involves providing high-quality financial information to stakeholders, offering expert advice on budgeting and financial management, and establishing effective working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provision of accurate and timely financial information to senior management and stakeholders.
* Providing expert advice and guidance to budget holders on budgeting and in-year monitoring of budgets.
* Establishing and maintaining close and effective working relationships with colleagues across AFBI and external stakeholders.
* Assisting in the preparation of financial forecasts and costing of research and business development opportunities.
* Providing advice and guidance to promote the safeguarding of public funds and ensuring that such funds are discharged with probity, regularity, and best value for money.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of current public expenditure planning, monitoring, control, and accountability systems.
* Assisting in the preparation of annual accounts for AFBI as required and dealing with auditors.
* Managing the resources of your own section and promoting high standards of accountability, integrity, and probity.
* Leading, managing, and motivating staff to ensure continuous improvement of services provided to AFBI.
