Assistant Financial Controller Job Description
The Spencer Hotel is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Financial Controller to further develop their career in the finance sector.
Job Summary:
This role involves managing the day-to-day operation of the Finance office, with primary responsibilities including Payroll, financial analysis and reporting, audit and control programs, asset & liability reconciliation, and assisting the Financial Controller with other duties as required.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in preparation of monthly management accounts in an accurate and timely manner.
* Reconcile the balance sheet and ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation.
* Ensure that relevant financial reports are presented accurately and on time.
* Monitor and control all sales revenue streams and maintain integrity of all POS systems.
* Process hotel payroll in a timely manner and ensure all employees are paid correctly.
* Assist accounting staff with their day-to-day operations and resolve queries where possible.
* Develop the skills and competencies of the accounting staff.
* Assist the Financial Controller in ensuring company compliance with tax matters and ensure all payments are made on time.
* Oversee adherence to legal and financial policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with the hotel control manual.
* Maintain a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations, and manage business risks.
* Advise the Financial Controller on existing and evolving operating and financial issues.
* Be responsible for all cash floats, cash transit procedures, safe procedures, float spot checks, etc.
* Oversee the collection and control of debtor accounts and ensure consistent implementation of the hotel credit policy.
* Oversee accounts payable and ensure vendor accounts are reconciled and suppliers paid in a timely manner.
* Assist in the personal development of relevant management on financial awareness.
* Complete miscellaneous projects and tasks set down by the Financial Controller or Director of Finance.
* Assist the External Auditor with annual financial audits and prepare adequately for same.

Requirements/Skills:
* Previous experience in hotels desired.
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant.
* Skills: hotel industry, Accounts, Microsoft Excel, accounting software package, Sage 50, Procure Wizard, Opera.
