Insurance & Financial Solutions (IFS) is recruiting for a Head of Products, Pricing & Insights for Irish Life Health.
This role will fulfil the PCF18 role of Head of Underwriting for Irish Life Health dac.
IFS is responsible for the development and monitoring of the full range of life insurance, pension, health insurance and investment products that Irish Life offers across a wide range of channels to both individual and corporate customers.
The ILH Head of Products, Pricing & Insights is responsible for leading the ILH Pricing & Product Functions to achieve excellent customer outcomes, whilst meeting sales, business profitability and business growth targets.
With a management reporting line to the MD of ILH and a dotted reporting line to the Head of Pricing IFS, the role holder will contribute strongly to the delivery of the 'Better Futures Strategy 2028' as a key member of the ILH Senior Leadership Team and the IFS Pricing Leadership Team.
As the Head of Products, Pricing & Insights for Irish Life Health and a member of the IFS Pricing Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the company's pricing strategy, risk management, and overall business performance.

What you will help us to achieve Key Responsibilities Lead the Irish Life Health pricing & product teams within Insurance & Financial Solutions.
The ILH Pricing & Product Functions are responsible for the design and pricing of health and dental products, with an objective of providing high-quality plans & benefits to our customers, whilst meeting profitability and capital efficiency targets and meeting other stakeholder, including intermediary partner, needs.
Working collaboratively with Sales & Propositions, and the Actuarial, Risk, Finance, Compliance and Provider Affairs Functions of ILH, to deliver compelling customer products and price points that deliver on our strategic and business objectives.
Drive the strategic direction for product & pricing within Irish Life Health, collaborating with the ILH Senior Leadership Team, the Insurance & Financial Solutions Leadership Team, and the Advice, Employer and Customer Solutions areas.
Take a forward-looking view of the development of the ILH portfolio, identifying trends in policyholder behaviour, claims, sales, and other factors that impact product, pricing and other parts of the business, ensuring pricing philosophies and approaches evolve as needed in a rapidly changing environment and aligning with the company's strategic objectives.
Take an external view of how the market will evolve and contribute to the development of ILH's understanding and positions on matters relating to risk equalisation and the operation of the health insurance market.
Ensure that health insurance products meet all product architecture and market rules and engage with the Health Insurance Authority as required.
Support the Head of Finance and Head of Actuarial Function to develop the annual multiyear business planning process.
Proactively identify opportunities and challenges for the business as part of this process.
Oversee risk management for the pricing area and sign off all risk aspects (customer, shareholder and reputational) of new pricing and product development and assess the impact of regulatory changes on product design.
Ensure full compliance with ILH and Group Policies and Standards, including the Underwriting and other relevant Policies and pricing standards.
Lead a team of actuarial and product management professionals.
Foster a high-performance culture by mentoring, coaching, and developing team members.
Identify skill gaps, provide growth opportunities, and support career progression through training, feedback, and leadership development initiatives, ensuring a strong talent pipeline for future business success.
Participate strongly and effectively as a member of the ILH Senior Leadership Team and the IFS Pricing Leadership Team to contribute to and support achievement of our 'Better Futures Strategy' objectives.
Build a culture with an inherently strong system of compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal controls where improvements in the analysis and management of risk is encouraged.
What you will need to be successful in the role Desired Knowledge/Experience/Skills This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Actuary.
The ideal candidate will be / will have: Strong, proven experience in executive leadership positions.
Qualified Actuary with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.
Strong knowledge and experience of the health insurance market, product design & pricing and risk management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability and capacity to see wider business implications of pricing and product management decisions.
Well-developed commercial awareness and negotiating skills, with a track record of delivering strong commercial results.
Drive for customer satisfaction, putting the customer at the heart of the business and effectively coordinating all aspects of their role to maintain a focus on bringing value to the customer.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with a range of business units and functions to achieve overall strategic and business targets.
Proven leadership skills and experience in leading a high performing team of professionals that deliver on commitments.
Excellent stakeholder management skills with a deep understanding of their requirements, including the various Regulators, Board of Directors, Board Audit and Board Risk Committees as well as the various other governance requirements.
Track record in developing, implementing and delivering on strategic plans and innovations and implementing change.
Knowledge of the Irish health insurance market, distributions channels, and competitor positions.

Develop Talent Fitness & Probity This role is a 'pre approved controlled function' as defined by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011.
Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that the appointee meets the requirements as set out in the Fitness and Probity standards issued by the Central Bank and that the appointment has been approved in writing by the Central Bank.
This requires the company to complete prescribed due diligence to assess the appointee's fitness and probity.
