The post holder will help support the implementation of a range of nursing postgraduate specialist programmes. The ideal candidates will have a background in general adult nursing practice or education. The principal objective of the post is to lead and participate in the development, direction, teaching, facilitation, and examining of each allocated programme. The successful candidate will assist with the delivery of the school’s curriculum in the multi-cultural environment of RCSI Dublin, ensuring academic quality and consistency across the RCSI campus.Specific Responsibilities include:Participating in the administration and delivery of current teaching programmes, teaching modalities and assessment for postgraduate nursing studentsUndertaking collaborative research that complements and develops the school’s academic status and reputation, and contributes to nursing practice and educationContributing to the development and introduction of new teaching programmes, teaching modalities and modes of assessmentLiaising with colleagues across RCSI international campuses in the facilitation of research and teaching activitiesMentoring students, and monitoring student assessment and progressSupervising postgraduate students at Masters and PhD levelParticipating in the development of RCSI’s teaching and learning strategy including the effective use of technology-enhanced learningContributing to quality assurance/quality improvement and accreditation of existing modulesUndergoing programmes of training and development as may be requiredUndertaking overseas assignments as may be required from time to timeEmploying a collaborative ethos in all aspects of academic practicePerforming such other related duties as may be requiredRepresenting the best interests of the School and RCSIPerson Specification Essential:PhD degree or equivalentRecent experience in general adult nursing practice/educationRegistered or potentially eligible to register as a nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of IrelandTrack record in leadership in clinical practice or educationTrack record in researchExcellent computer, presentation, and verbal & written communication skillsStrong teaching interest and skill set, with a proven track record in postgraduate teaching and assessmentPerson Specification Desirable:Recognised specialist nursing or midwifery qualification which complements the portfolio of programmes delivered in the schoolSignificant contribution to the development of specialist nursing/midwifery practice in education, practice development, and researchEffective communication style appropriate to audience and situationStrong commitment to personal and professional developmentExcellent time-management skillsAbility to build and maintain strong working relationshipsProven ability for both independent and team workShortlisted candidates will be invited for a panel-based presentation and a formal competence-based interview at our main campus at RCSI Dublin on the week of July 9th 2024.Informal Enquiries: Informal enquiries are invited through Rebecca O’Brien, Human Resources Department.
