Structural Engineer
We currently have a requirement for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Building Engineering team in Dublin, designing and delivering projects in Ireland and across Europe.
You will be responsible for delivery of the structural aspects of projects. The role will harness your core structural engineering skills to provide technical guidance on multi-disciplinary projects as well as leading, mentoring and developing junior colleagues. It will also provide opportunity to use and develop management skills and experience and be at the leading edge of sustainable solutions in the sector.

Your responsibilities
1. Undertaking the structural engineering design for projects or major parts of large projects, from concept to detailed design and construction, reporting to senior engineers and project managers.
2. Co-ordinating through the design process and integrating with associated design requirements from the various design partners.
3. Work independently and be responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own work.
4. Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team.
5. Planning and monitoring use of own time and resources on projects, including junior engineers and technicians, with responsibility for production of deliverables to agreed deadlines.
6. Preparation of structural calculations, reports and specifications, supporting the delivery of designs through the construction process.
7. Attending project meetings and communicating with all grades of staff, external design team members and clients.
8. Ensuring compliance with Arup standards as set out in the company’s quality procedures.
Your Education/Profile
9. Degree qualified in Structural Engineering or similar, MEng or equivalent preferred.
10. Chartered Membership Engineers Ireland or working towards same.
11. A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience that has developed strong technical skills in the design of structural engineering projects.
12. Proven team player.
13. Experience dealing with Contractors queries and attendance at Site meetings.
14. Have an awareness and willingness to develop understanding of building design beyond own discipline, e.g. Architectural, MEP, Geotechnical, Civil, etc.
15. Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
16. Excellent communication and report writing skills with a strong ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations and writing.
17. Ability to work under pressure, balance priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
18. Competent in design software packages.
19. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, inquisitive, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
