The Role Overview
Due to an internal promotion, our client is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to oversee a €65m public works project in South Dublin. The senior management team has a proven track record of developing and challenging their colleagues to further their careers.
Main Responsibilities
* Collaborate with site management and company directors to ensure that environmental, health, and safety (EHS) goals are met and exceeded.
* Conduct regular safety inspections, review risk assessments (RAMS), and evaluate subcontractors' safety statements.
* Regularly review and update company risk assessments, safe operating procedures, and safety statements.
* Provide safety induction training for new staff members and maintain site diaries.
* Investigate, record, and report accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
* IDentify training requirements and ensure mandatory training is completed on time.
* Ensure personnel on-site have access to proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Review subcontractors' safety compliance and provide relevant accident information for insurance purposes.
* Attend and contribute to regular EHS meetings.
Requirements
* Degree qualification in health and safety or a related field.
* A strong passion for environmental, health, and safety matters.
* A good attitude and personality.
* The ability to influence people.
* At least one year of experience in health and safety within a construction environment in Ireland.
