Job Description:
The National Transport Authority is seeking a Financial Accountant to establish a Professional Accountant Grade II panel.
Key Roles:
* Rural Finance accountant
* Fixed Asset accountant
* Management and financial reporting accountant
* Treasury accountant
* Finance systems governance accountant and finance business process analyst
* Project reporting and cost accountant
* Ticketing and controls reconciliation accountant
The successful candidate will contribute to a positive and open working environment, driving continuous improvement within the NTA finance function.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Manage and develop members of the NTA Finance team.
2. Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end management reporting and business partnering.
3. Prepare annual Financial Statements and audit files.
4. Provide financial analysis, reporting expertise, and support to the business.
5. Assist in preparing and interrogating inputs for various business units into the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
6. Develop and report high-quality financial management reports, financial analysis, and key performance indicators.
7. Complete weekly, monthly, and annual controls and assist in developing and enhancing control procedures.
8. Provide new insights and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Build strong internal business partner relationships.
2. Perform financial analysis, including Return on Investment calculations.
3. Conduct periodic risk assessments within the Finance area.
4. Provide support for administration of the financial accounting and grant management systems.
5. Assist with any systems development or implementation within areas of responsibility.
6. Assist with various audits and reviews throughout the year.
The appointed person requires flexibility to fulfill other roles and responsibilities at a similar level within the Authority.
Essential Criteria:
* Professional accountancy qualification and admission to membership of a recognised professional body of accountants.
* Minimum 5 years relevant experience in preparation of management accounts, reconciliations, business partnering, and financial forecasting.
* Proven ability to organise and manage a range of work activities while delivering results successfully and in a timely manner.
* Ability to communicate and interact effectively with stakeholders.
* Demonstrate strong attention to detail, including through the application process.
* Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Criteria:
* Hold a minimum of a NFQ Level 7 qualification in finance, business, or related discipline other than the accounting qualification.
* Knowledge of practices/procedures of the public sector and particularly public sector accounting procedures.
* Strong analytical capability, with a logical approach to problem solving and sound judgement.
* Ability to work on own initiative, as part of a team, and as leader of a group.
* Ability to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
