Aware is a national organisation providing free support, education and information services to people impacted by anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and related mood conditions. The organisation delivers its services through approximately 300 highly trained volunteers and 50 mental health professional contractors. In 2024, Aware answered 15,000 calls on their support line and had over 6,000 visits to support groups and 4,000 people participated in its educational programmes. Aware will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025 and is one of Ireland’s most well-known and respected charities.
THE POSITION
Reporting to the Chairperson and the Board of Directors directly, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for providing overall leadership to the organisation. The new incumbent will develop and implement strategic plans agreed with the board to ensure excellence in service delivery while also ensuring the highest standards of good governance.
The CEO will be the public face of Aware in collaboration with the senior management team and board members, to further build and enhance the profile of the organisation with service users, volunteers, funders, media and other key stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
Suitably qualified and interested candidates will be operating at or near CEO standing with an exemplary track record of leadership in an organisation of relative size, scale and complexity. Experience in a not-for-profit, health and/or social care environment will be beneficial but not essential.
Core competencies will include leadership, strategic vision and organisational awareness, coupled with financial acumen and the ability to contribute at all levels. Candidates must be exceptional communicators with the capacity to engage, inspire, and influence all stakeholders.
A commitment to the mission, vision and values of Aware will be essential.
