What you will do:
Consult on and implement technically challenging bespoke End-2-End automation projects that drive continuous improvement and innovation onsite
Research new technology and industry best practices applying knowledge gained to existing processes and the future state automation roadmap
Develop, implement and test software for highly automated equipment
Support the implementation of data acquisition and the development of digital business intelligence tools
Lead & support teams driving technology process innovation with emphasis on improving quality, reducing cost, improving reliability, and developing state of the art automated and semi-automated systems.
4. Provide day to day support to operations for Automation and Controls components within the manufacturing process.
5. Identify, evaluate & implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
6. Provide Technical leadership to the wider engineering team in the field of process automation.
7. Provides input and help in the selection of new technologies to improve plant efficiencies.
8. Participates within project teams, provides technical support and makes informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection.
9. Proactively resolve technical issues before they impact business priorities.
10. Analyse, understand, fault-find and modify where necessary automation software in line with the sites quality management system.
11. Develop, test and install control’s software as part of a highly automated and validated production environment.
12. Develop and integrate software applications with automated equipment into existing business intelligence digital tools used onsite.
13. Champion digital reporting tools and visualisations that are thorough, detailed and able to be comprehended by the end user
14. Take ownership of the software applications and hardware used to house the sites digital business intelligence tools, ensuring optimum performance.
15. Develop User, Functional and Detailed Design Specifications.
16. Work within a cross functional multidiscipline team environment.
17. Ability to use data and metrics to anticipate problems and make data driven decisions in response.
18. Support process development and cost reduction activities within the business units.
19. Provide guidance on integrating, testing, evaluating and modifying automated systems and seeing the process through from beginning to end.
20. Provide on the job training/support to new team members.
21. All other duties as assigned.
22. Level 8 Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineer, Computer Science or related field with equivalent technical experience is required.
23. Has minimum of 4-6 years, software and controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
24. Demonstrated ability to provide technical solutions for complex problems through automation systems knowledge.
25. Proven Project Management skills through the delivery of Automation and or Digitalisation projects.
26. Strong technical background is essential for this role (PLC, HMI, Robotics, GAMP, GMP).
27. Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens controls systems would be advantageous.
28. Some experience of scripting programming languages would be advantageous.
29. Some experience of Object Orientated Programming and SQL Server DB design is advantageous.
30. Working knowledge of Ignition SCADA platform and Cognex vision systems is beneficial.
31. Good knowledge of ISA95 and ISA88 design/implementation.
32. Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
33. Capable of providing technical leadership, influencing and providing technical direction to Engineers, Technicians and team members as required.
34. Capable of working autonomously or as part of a multi-disciplined team in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivated environment.
35. A team player, with a flexible approach.
36. Must be willing to source, investigate and implement technological and automation advances.
37. Understanding of FDA, BSI and regulatory software validation requirements.
