What You'll Do as a Trainee Accountant
* Support the preparation of monthly financial and management accounts.
* Assist in the management of Primark's intercompany stock/creditor cleardown process.
* Maintain Primark's intercompany interest schedules.
* Own entities for periodic management accounts reporting to ABF plc.
* Own periodic intercompany recharges process.
* Support the OpEx team with periodic accruals.
* Assist the Financial Accountant with weekly treasury accounting postings.
* Support the Balance Sheet Reconciliations team by ensuring a thorough review and capability to explain the movements in the key critical accounts framework.
* Prepare monthly intercompany confirmations across the group and external parties including reporting on and reconciling of intercompany balances and mismatches.
* Ensure proper books and records are held in all jurisdictions and are in accordance with local requirements (tax, accounting, legal etc).
* Any other tasks and ad hoc projects as required by management.
What You'll Bring
* An ambitious self-starter with a positive attitude, committed to pursuing a career in accountancy and a desire to progress within the organisation.
* Some industry experience and a passion for Retail would be an advantage.
* A deep understanding of accounting principles such as IFRS, and local GAAP for the countries in which we operate.
* The ability to work in a systematic and organised way.
* Attention to detail with strong financial and analytical skills.
* Strong presentation and communication skills required.
* The ability to work under pressure and capable of handling multiple priorities.
* English is essential and other European languages would be an advantage.
