Post Summary
This exciting Post Doctoral opportunity will appeal to individuals with an interest, or wishing to develop an interest, in ageing research, intellectual disabilities, and/or co-creation methodologies. Specifically, we are seeking a Post Doctoral Research Fellow to work with the Intellectual Disability Supplement to the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (IDS-TILDA) research team. IDS-TILDA is the flagship research project of the Trinity Centre for Ageing and Intellectual Disability (TCAID), focusing on ageing in individuals with intellectual disabilities aged 40 and over in Ireland. As the first study of its kind in Europe, it is the only project able to directly compare the ageing of people with intellectual disabilities with that of the general ageing population. The Post Doctoral Research Fellow will contribute to this pioneering research while exploring the health and ageing experiences of people with intellectual disabilities. The underpinning values of IDS-TILDA are inclusion, choice, empowerment, person centred, the promotion of people with intellectual disability, the promotion of best practice and to contribute to the lives of people with intellectual disability. The study aims to identify the principal influences on successful ageing in persons with intellectual disability, and then determine if they are the same or different from the influences for the general population.
