Ayrton Group are seeking a HSE Consultant to join our client, a renewable energy contractor, on the pre-construction and construction phase of a solar farm project in Co. Offaly.
This is a 12-month contract role, with the potential for extension, commencing in early April.
This is a full time role working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure adherence to company and client Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
* Review the Preliminary Health & Safety plan, develop Construction Stage plan, and update Safety Plan as required.
* Conduct comprehensive risk assessment and hazard analyses to identify potential Health and Safety risks and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
* Conduct regular site audits and inspection to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Ensure that incident are reported to the relevant authorities in a timely manner and that incident investigations are carried out in accordance with local regulations and company rules.
* Conduct root cause analyses of incidents and near-misses to prevent recurrence and improve safety practices. Provide training and regular briefings on this subject.
* Manage all necessary documentation relating to site Health and Safety.
* Consult with each contractor before commencement (pre-commencement/Kick off meeting) and detail / agree what is required from them before commencement e.g., training records, safety documentation, method statements, risk assessments etc.
* Review contractor documentation/permits to ensure compliance with EHS requirements and standards.
* Keep contractors informed about identified occupational hazards, including: proposals aimed to removing these threats.
* Compile and monitor the permitting register according to national requirements for HSE and environmental issues.
* Advise on the planning of site facilities, e.g. social facilities or first aid, fire protection measurement, H&S board, parking area, smoking point etc.
* Ensure HSSE weekly site inspections and HSSE Weekly Site Meetings are carried out on the project and actively participate in them.
* Conducting regular meetings with Project EPC Manager, Site Manager, HSSE Regional Manager, and Project DEV Manager.
* Coordinate with the PSDP for the project and attend any required meetings or health & Safety walkdowns.
* Assist, generate, or perform any mandatory checks and communication on behalf of the Principal Contractor that might be required by the regulations, authorities, external Clients, etc.
* Coordinate training requirements (Ireland mandated training, Safe Pass, CSCS plant operator training etc.) for workers coming from Europe to complete installation works. Arrange and update for company project team to complete PSCS training and others if required.
* Prepare an Overall Safety Induction Training and deliver this to all new workers starting on the project.
* Emergency Preparedness & Response plan should be prepared with the details of designated responsible persons and roles. Outline actions to be taken in the event of all potential emergency situations for both Construction and O&M activities.
* Assist in organizing fire inspections and drill evacuations.
Key Requirements:
* Recognised qualification in Health and Safety required.
* Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position required.
* Construction experience is required.
* First Aid Training is required.
* Comprehensive understanding of Irish Health and Safety legislation required.
* Proficiency in EHS management software and tools for tracking incidents, compliance, and training.
* Strong report writing and comprehension skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* High level of fluency in English is required.
* Full clean driver’s license is required.
* You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
