The Role My client is seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Policy and Regulation to join their team.
This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid position based in Newbridge, County Kildare.
As Head of Policy & Regulation, you will lead the strategic direction and execution of policy advocacy, regulatory compliance, and government engagement initiatives within Irelands renewable energy sector.
Tasks & Duties Regulatory Oversight & Compliance: Lead the development and implementation of compliance strategies to meet local, national, and EU regulatory requirements for renewable energy projects.
Oversee timely and accurate submissions to regulatory bodies, including participation in Capacity and Ancillary Services Markets.
Internal Collaboration & Training: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and deliver compliance programs and training initiatives, ensuring organisation-wide understanding and adherence to evolving regulatory standards.
Stakeholder & Government Relations: Cultivate and manage strong relationships with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and key industry stakeholders to support collaboration and positively shape policy development.
Advocacy & Representation: Represent the organisation at industry events, public consultations, and stakeholder forums, clearly articulating and advocating for the companys positions on critical regulatory and policy matters.
Policy Research & Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on regulatory trends and market conditions to identify implications for the renewable energy sector.
Strategic Insight & Advocacy Support: Translate research findings into actionable reports and position papers that inform internal strategy and strengthen policy advocacy efforts.
Policy & Regulatory Strategy: Support the formulation of strategic objectives related to policy and regulation, ensuring alignment with the organisation's overall business goals.
Risk & Opportunity Analysis: Identify emerging policy trends, risks, and opportunities, delivering strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership to inform proactive decision-making.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and support a team of policy and regulatory professionals, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
Health, Safety & Welfare: Actively uphold and adhere to all company policies and practices related to health, safety, and the welfare of colleagues and the public.
Performance & Accountability: Engage proactively in the performance management process to support the achievement of individual and team objectives, driving overall effectiveness and alignment with organisational goals.
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications Honours degree in Regulation, Public Policy, Commercial, or Renewable Energy disciplines is essential; a relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., Regulatory, Commercial, Financial) is highly desirable.
Minimum of 10 years experience in policy development, regulatory affairs, or related roles within the renewable energy sector or broader energy markets.
Demonstrated success in engaging with Irish government and regulatory bodies, with a solid understanding of EU energy policy frameworks.
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with proven experience interpreting and applying complex regulatory structures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and policy advocacy.
Proficient in research techniques and policy analysis tools, with the ability to generate insights to inform strategic decisions.
Strategic mindset with the capability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and influence policy outcomes effectively.
Passionate about renewable energy and sustainability; proactive, solution-focused, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
