Overall Purpose of the Job
The appointed Senior HSEQ Advisor will be responsible for providing a professional health and safety service to all levels of staff working within Apleona Ireland. This role may be internal & client facing and this requirement will vary from time to time.
Main duties and responsibilities
o Develop and administer procedures & EHS related documents (including safety statement, safety related protocols, environmental aspects register) to ensure compliance with EHS legislative requirements and corporate policy.
o Conduct and review risk assessments (and Method Statements). Support local teams with their preparation in conjunction with the subject matter expert to ensure measures to identify and control hazards are implemented and monitored.
o Support the ISO Integrated Management System and champion the ISO 45001 element for Apleona Ireland.
o Support the development, implementation and testing of Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans.
o Provide comprehensive H&S advice and support to Apleona teams on site / client projects and where necessary, attend client facing meetings.
o Thoroughly investigate and formally record and report accidents or incidents relating to Apleona.
o Carry out accident & incident analysis and develop targeted injury reduction programmes.
o Prepare health and safety documentation & act as PSDP and / or PSCS for site projects where appropriate.
o Ensure contractor safety management arrangements are established and implemented.
o Identify potential gaps or shortcomings in the Apleona HSEQ Management system and formally develop, implement, assess, review & update HSEQ Programmes to ensure hazards are managed appropriately.
o Maintain the Company EHS Legal Register.
o Complete DSE workstation assessments.
o Carry out Pregnant Employee Risk Assessments.
o Co-ordinate, develop and deliver Apleona specific & task specific training in H&S related areas and deliver practical manual handling training.
o Conduct regular audits in line with the Apleona group audit schedule. Report findings to site and senior management ensuring appropriate follow-up and tracking actions to closure in a timely manner.
o Drive H&S improvement through BBS Programmes.
o Drive the Safety Committee and participate in safety groups and forums where H&S matters are discussed.
o Maintain records and systems necessary to fulfil H&S policy in an appropriate manner (including confidential information).
o Produce professional HSEQ reports to management and clients as required.
o Maintain and administer software systems used to manage HSEQ requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements:
o Minimum degree (Level 7 Major Award) in health and safety.
o Minimum 5 years experience in a customer service driven environment.
o Experience working with integrated management systems i.e. ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO9001.
o Proven ability to work on own initiative, with problem solving skills and be innovative.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience in delivering formal training.
o Excellent organisational skills – ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
o Proficiency in Microsoft IT applications.
o Good report writing skills.
o Enthusiasm and Reliability.
o Fluency in English.
o Full Clean Driving Licence (Class B).
o Access to own vehicle.
o Flexibility to travel as required.
Ideal Requirements:
o QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor and Assessor trained.
o Knowledge and experience of working within the facilities management (FM) sector.
o Understanding of Construction Regulations as they apply to FM.
o Membership of IOSH (or working towards) or equivalent.
o Trained DSE Assessor.
