Software Development Engineer, CloudFront Routing
Job ID: 2743091 | Amazon Data Services Ireland Limited
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
Do you enjoy watching the latest movies, television shows, or sporting events on your computer, tablet or smartphone? Do you hate waiting for your pages to load or your show to re-buffer? Do you want to contribute to systems that deliver a flawless experience in serving content from the edge? Good - us too.
The CloudFront Routing organization is looking for experienced Software Engineers to join our team in vibrant Dublin, Ireland. We offer comprehensive relocation and benefit packages.
At AWS CloudFront, working on systems with global scale is a daily part of the job. As part of the CloudFront Routing team, you will own and run one of the largest DNS and BGP infrastructures in the world.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key Job Responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer in the CloudFront Routing organization, you will have ownership of the core components (like Anti-DDoS, Flash traffic management, DNS Services, Anycast @scale, Availability systems and services).
Our engineers are empowered to make self-driven decisions on the right technologies to solve problems at a global scale. You will be writing documentation to get feedback and consensus from other Sr. Engineers/Principal Engineers to make decisions in finding the optimal solutions for large scale problems, picking programming languages (we use Rust, Java, Go, C/C++, Python), selecting native AWS services, and purpose-built infrastructure in the edges to meet the goals.
You will also have end-to-end ownership opportunity on all aspects of the service life cycle: ideation, design, development, building monitoring and alerting, and then operationalizing the services that you build.
The services that our team built have handled traffic for several million concurrent viewers during live events like the Cricket World Cup, FIFA World Cup, and Thursday Night Football. You will learn and incorporate data points to make decisions in building services for future traffic growth.

3. Experience programming with at least one software programming language
