Our strong family ethos and team of talented, diverse and caring colleagues is central to the creation of a supportive and nurturing environment that creates a strong sense of home for our residents.The primary role of an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is to support the Director of Nursing (DON) in overseeing the nursing home and ensuring high-quality and person-centred care in the facility leading teams to create a place where people can flourish.The ADON plays a crucial leadership and administrative role, acting as a bridge between staff and senior management.This is an exciting career opportunity whereby the successful candidate will be empowered by a supportive team to lead, enhance, and shape the delivery of care at Altadore Retirement Nursing Home.Responsibilities Include:Assist in managing, coordinating, and organising the team. This includes ensuring that staff are following protocols, delivering quality care, and meeting regulatory standards.Developing Policies and Procedures. Successful candidate will help to create, implement, and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, as well as ensuring high standards of care.The ADON will oversee training and professional development for the staff, ensuring that they are up to date on best practices.They will often assist in staffing decisions, helping to ensure the home is appropriately staffed to meet residents’ needs, and organizing schedules to prevent shortages or burnout.The ADON will monitor person-centred care to ensure it meets established standards. This involves conducting audits, reviewing incident reports, and working to resolve any issues related to residents’ safety or satisfaction.They take on administrative tasks and other responsibilities delegated by the DON, such as attending meetings, managing budgets, and representing the nursing home in the DON's absence.They will also be involved in resolving complaints, communicating with residents and families, and ensuring their needs are met.Required Skills & QualificationsExcellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skillsAbility to work closely with key leaders and develop strong effective relationships with HIQA, HSE, families and other key stakeholders.Have full registration with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.Have a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience of nursing older people within the previous 6 years.Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management capacity in the health and social care area.Demonstrate sound knowledge and clinical nursing practice together with future trends in elder care.Hold a post registration management qualification in health or a related field.A management qualification or Higher Diploma in Gerontology is desirable but not essential.Demonstrate strong leadership skills.Possess ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, team members, management and external bodies e.g. HIQA, HSE, GPs etc.ADON experience would be an added advantage.Benefits Include:Excellent remuneration packageMobile PhoneEmployee Assistance ProgramContinuous training and development opportunitiesFree ParkingPension ContributionCareer advancement opportunities as part of a successful groupWhy work for us?Teamwork and excellent provision of care are our trademarks.
