The Contributor is seeking a leader to oversee and coordinate our vendor sales office. This role supports the community of street newspaper vendors, fostering a welcoming environment and ensuring smooth operations. The ideal candidate will bring experience in volunteer coordination, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for creating a culture of mutual aid and empowerment.
This is an on-site, in-person position involving the management of the day-to-day operations of the vendor sales office, leading a team of dedicated volunteers, and providing training, encouragement, and support to vendors as they work toward meeting their sales goals and achieving financial independence.
Job Responsibilities
Vendor Support and Engagement
* Facilitate biweekly newspaper release meetings, ensuring they are organized, inspiring, and vendor-centered.
* Encourage vendors to work, meet their sales goals, and explore opportunities to expand their independence through newspaper vending and other work.
* Provide new vendor orientation and training, equipping individuals with the tools and confidence they need to succeed.
* Create and maintain a culture of mutual aid, community, and radical hospitality within the vendor office.
* Offer support and problem-solving to vendors, fostering a sense of belonging and motivation.
Volunteer Leadership and Office Operations
* Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to staff the vendor sales office, ensuring they are equipped and empowered to support vendors effectively.
* Coordinate volunteers to maintain consistent and reliable office coverage.
* Create and implement best practices for volunteer management, including recognition and retention strategies.
* Maintain accurate records related to vendor accounts, sales, and training.
Community and Hospitality
* Foster an environment of radical hospitality by welcoming vendors with warmth and respect, addressing their needs, and encouraging open communication.
* Promote a mutual aid philosophy, where vendors and volunteers collaborate to build a stronger community.
* Work with the editorial, housing, and health teams to ensure that the vendor office is integrated with The Contributor’s broader mission.
Qualifications
* Experience: Prior experience in volunteer management, community organizing, or a similar leadership role. Experience working with individuals facing economic hardship is highly valued.
* Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of vendors and volunteers. Familiarity and skill using Microsoft Office products and a willingness to learn how to navigate various databases.
* Knowledge: Familiarity with principles of mutual aid, trauma-informed care, and hospitality best practices. Experience with database management is a plus.

Additional Information
Full-time, in-person position. 9a-5p in downtown Nashville with some flexibility.
$45,000-$55,000 annual salary and benefits, including 100% paid individual medical insurance, dental, vision, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, 403(b) contributions, and generous paid time off.
