Due to a recent internal promotion, there is now an opening for the role of Director of Project Services to cover Ireland, UK and Nordics.
About The Opportunity
A key member of the Ireland management team, the Director of Project Services will manage, provide leadership and be accountable for all Cost, Planning, Procurement and Post Award Administration for the portfolio of projects.
The Project Services team consists of department managers for each discipline (Cost, Planning, Contracts, Equipment) who manage their respective disciplines and report to the Director of Project Services.
At Jacobs our Project Services team philosophy is to work in a transparent and diligent manner to harness a ‘No Surprises’ methodology on the project. We provide the tools, reporting and analysis necessary to meet the needs of the Project.
Key Duties And Responsibilities Include:
1. Lead, manage and motivate the Project Services team (+125 people) whilst commanding respect from all stakeholders through technical and personal credibility and integrity.
2. Resource management – working with the respective Project Services Department Managers to ensure the project is adequately resourced to meet the project needs.
3. Be responsible for setting out and maintaining the Quality requirements, Standards and Procedures for the project services team.
4. Work closely with the other European Project Services Manager to align on resource and project requirements.
5. Participate in Bid process from opening to end game.
6. Support to Finance and Business Analyst in projection of Monthly Forecasts.
7. Will be an active member of the Ireland operations management team with responsibility for project services functions and supporting the wider business in achieving annual goals and targets.
8. Ensure that systems are in place and effective and lead innovation where inefficiencies are evident.
9. Client management – dealing with Clients on any issues or concerns and providing necessary support where required.
10. Provide necessary support to the Project Services discipline managers in their roles.
11. Perform personnel performance evaluations for staff on a continual basis.
12. Be a leader in our Beyond Zero culture. Do not compromise safety in the home office or in the field.
13. There may be a requirement to be actively involved in project roles from time to time based on business requirements.
Skills:
1. Proven experience in the Project Services area. Ideally looking for someone with five+ years experience at Senior level.
2. Experience of managing people – ideally groups in excess of 20 people.
3. Experience of Jacobs systems and procedures is preferential but external candidates with the right technical experience will be considered.
4. Has a technical understanding of all the constituent functions - Cost engineering, Contract Procurement and Administration, Scheduling, Equipment Procurement and expediting.
5. Capable of supervising and communicating effectively with the Project Services team to ensure complete understanding and fulfilment of operations and project/program objectives.
6. Capable of effectively communicating with all levels of project and operations management and with the client. Must identify potential problems and elevate these to the appropriate level(s) of management.
7. Strong ability to identify efficiencies within work process, and to initiate and manage strategies including learning, mentoring/coaching, and attitudes & behaviours as required to achieve a performance excellence culture.
8. Able to make clear and concise presentations to Jacobs and Client management.
9. Good facilitator with excellent interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills.
10. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster and grow positive relationships within the Project Services team, across Jacobs, and with our Clients and partners.
11. Proven ability to acquire and retain talent and to mentor and develop talent.
Here's what you'll need:
1. BSc or MSc in a recognised Industry field.
2. This position requires extensive experience in a Project Services or related field. This should include a minimum of five years at a Senior Level.
