Since 2004, Transdev Ireland has operated the Dublin Tram System (LUAS). In 2019, Transdev took over the maintenance management contract. As part of the continuous improvement project, we seek new talent to join our Fleet Engineering team. Please note that * is reserved for a specific category of individuals. Responsibilities
The Fleet Project Engineer will report to the Fleet Engineer Manager in the Fleet Engineering department, collaborating with other Fleet Engineers who work on similar projects.
1. The VIE is oriented towards energy consumption reduction and key cost savings for the company, with a return on investment shown through Total Cost of Ownership.
2. The Fleet Project Engineer will liaise with Fleet Maintenance Production (Depot Manager, Planner, MTM, Technicians) to improve working methods or technical systems related to trams (trials or fleet deployment).
3. They will manage all projects assigned and work closely with suppliers of tram components, services, and tools.
4. Documentation for clients TII (the PTA for LUAS) or the safety authority (CRR) must be prepared as needed.
Jobs and projects assigned to the Fleet Project Engineer may include:
* New Saloon LED Lights on all fleets due to obsolescence of the bulbs.
* Fresh Air system on 402/502 fleet for energy saving purposes.
* Under 3 kph Heat & Vent shut off to reduce energy consumption.
* New Sanding system for 401 trams – New compressor, new ejectors with adaptation for air intake, and adaptation of the hoses.
* ONIX reliability program on 401 fleet.
These projects may change due to priority management or client needs. The Project Fleet Engineer could also participate in other activities within the Fleet Engineering department depending on project requirements.
Main Responsibilities for This Role
1. Designing: Create optimal solutions with the help of suppliers and team engineers, keeping a long-term maintenance perspective.
2. Reporting and Documentation: Provide internal reports to the lead engineer or engineer manager and produce necessary deliverables for the PTA (Work Instructions, change control documentation, Build of Material List).
3. Managing Suppliers: Oversee solutions’ implementation, conduct regular meetings, and negotiate costs and technical details.
4. Planning: Develop a comprehensive project plan and monitor its execution, coordinating with fleet planners to implement solutions on trams.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field.
- Preferably 2 years’ experience in technical expertise, project management, cost savings, or quality management.
- Project Management experience is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity are essential.
- Strong analytical skills and efficient thinking are required.
