Job Description
The main responsibilities for Sample Management Officer are the reception of patient specimens into and movement from the Pre-analytical department through to the analytical laboratories. The role also requires the preparation of outsourced samples for dispatch to other laboratories.
Specific Tasks:
1. Use of Laboratory Information Management Systems in place in the laboratory.
2. Help achieve departmental goals & objectives.
3. Be aware and be compliant with all documentation related to your department to include - Training records, SOP’s, Forms.
4. Reporting of incidents and non-conformities.
5. To ensure all specimens are received/checked for appropriateness and accuracy as detailed in relevant SOP’s.
6. Check packages for urgent samples/tests.
7. Handling of DOA samples, including aliquoting and storage of original sample containers appropriately according to SOPs.
8. Distribute packages to SROs.
9. Operation of the Automate.
10. Manage discrepancies/queries through the Supervisors, Laboratory Services Manager, Medical Director or Client Services as required.
11. Make aliquots and dispatch samples to correct laboratories.
12. Ensure samples are stored correctly.
13. Prepare specimens through Eurofins Biomnis Ireland for referral including the checklists for referral (if trained to do so).
14. Prepare packages via Eurofins Biomnis Ireland for referral.
15. Scan request forms and file away.
16. Ensure daily logbooks are filed away.
17. Control minimum stock for Pre-Analytics Department.
18. Demonstrate Good Laboratory Practice and carry out tasks in accordance with the relevant ISO standard.
19. Assist in completion of daily work
20. Clean/disinfect working areas daily.
21. Maintenance of instrumentation.
Qualifications
Education
22. Leaving Certificate or Equivalent
Experience
23. Sample handling or manual handing preferably but not essential

Salary: €37,500 (€30,000 per annum, plus a night shift allowance which is 25% of your daily rate- €37,500)
Hours: 39 Hours p/w (Night Shift Hours 21:30 - 06:00).
