Role Requirements
* Verification Checks and/or Audits: Conduct routine verification and/or audit checks on a wide variety of Pobal funded organisations to ensure programme funding is spent for the purposes intended.
* Reporting: Prepare reports which include findings, conclusions, and recommendations in a timely manner.
* Promoting a Collaborative Work Culture: Proactively contribute to team meetings in the interest of promoting shared learning and best practice.
* Promoting Best Practice in Governance Standards / Training: Develop training materials and deliver training to Pobal funded organisations and internal colleagues, as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Evaluate accounting systems of Pobal funded organisations, ensuring transparent audit trail between expenditure returns submitted and financial records maintained.
* Assess eligibility of all monies spent to ensure they comply with programme rules.
* Monitor actual expenditure against agreed budgets and highlight any significant variances.
* Assess systems of internal control.
* Evaluate performance outputs and value for money issues.
* Maintain detailed audit working paper files.
* Identify and report common issues in Pobal funded organisations to mitigate and/or prevent risk.
Requirements:
* Professional recognised accounting qualification and external/internal audit experience.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and guarantee an extremely high level of quality and accuracy.
* Strong financial management experience and knowledge.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Previous experience of conducting in-depth financial reviews or audits.
* Knowledge of Pobal funded programmes and EU and Government accounting regulations.
