Your impact
We're looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Ireland Life Sciences Team. Join us, and you’ll have the chance to work on projects including state-of-the-art biotech and pharmaceutical facilities. You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will conceptualize initial civil design for land/site development, prepare grading plans, and perform earthwork and drainage/stormwater calculations.
About the opportunity
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be an integral member of the Civil engineering design and construction support team, counted on to perform civil analysis and design for our projects and play a key leadership role in our civil team. You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills as you work closely with clients, project managers, other disciplines, and construction trade partners. As part of this team, you will develop design concepts, undertake analysis and design, and work with other Designers and Engineers as part of the wider design effort.
It is expected that you have a strong working knowledge of civil principles in many subject areas, understanding of building codes with emphasis on local jurisdictional code requirements, and an understanding of how civil design integrates with and impacts other disciplines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* With limited supervision, competently perform all conventional aspects of civil engineering and analysis:
o Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
o Exercise sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills.
* Take responsibility for managing workload, making and keeping commitments, and taking full ownership of assigned work.
* Able to work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner with strong attention to detail.
* Possess excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Here's what you'll need:
* Degree in Civil Engineering.
* At least 6 years of project experience.
* Chartered Civil Engineering qualification preferred.
* Strong working knowledge and experience in analyzing and designing all aspects of medium to large scale industrial developments including:
o Site development, site master planning, and site selection.
o Underground utility routing and site space planning.
o Hydrology analysis for designing storm drain systems.
o Analyzing and designing gravitational wastewater systems.
o Performing final grading plans including cut and fill analysis and earthwork balancing.
o Support the permit application process.
o Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroDrainage.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Strong interpersonal skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
* Previous experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or general industrial facilities.
* Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam.
