Overview
The Audit Co-ordinator will be required to provide and maintain comprehensive efficient and effective co-ordination of audit within Louth Hospitals.This will include the requirement to support the development of a Hospital-wide Audit Strategy including the collation, interrogation of audit data and the provision of reports for the Quality and Safety Executive. The vacancy is permanent, whole-time & pensionable. A panel may be created from which future temporary vacancies may be filled.Appointment as an employee of the Health Service Executive is governed by the Health Act 2004 and the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004.

Key Responsibilities
The principal duties and responsibilities of the role are: Provide specialist advice on all aspects of the audit cycle to clinicians and clinical teams in order to support them to audit clinical practice against national, regional and local standards, policies and guidelines.Co-ordinate the planning, development and organisation of the Our Lady of Lourdes hospital and Louth County hospital Clinical Audit Programme with the clinicians, including developing systems for prioritising requests for clinical audit support, in response to local issues and in line with the local and national priorities.Lead on and take responsibility for Clinical Audits as required within the Hospital, as guided by the Hospitals Executive and in particular to support strategic priorities such as Dublin North East Acute Hospital Group safety programmes.Develop and carry out audit as required. Will work as an effective member of the Quality & Safety team contributing to the priorities of the department.Will work as an effective member of the Quality & Safety Department contributing to the priorities of the department.Deputise for the Quality & Safety Manager as required.Co-ordinate Quality Improvement Programmes for departments and individuals to ensure the overall objectives and standards of the Quality and Safety Executive are achieved and maintained.Carry out local audits in relation to recommendations from reviews. Promote and participate in the implementation of change.Proactively identify inequities / inefficiencies in service administration and implement solutions to improve service delivery, in line with legislation and benchmarking against best practice structures.Encourage and support staff through the change process.Participate in personal development plan.Collate and interrogate, analyse performance and audit dataSupport and facilitate the development of patient/carer questionnaires / audit tools.Assist auditors to communicate and disseminate clinical audit results, and recommendations for changes in practice and facilitate clinical teams to act on these to enable continuous quality improvement. This may entail motivating, negotiating and persuading staff groups/ teams.Responsible for monitoring and reporting Clinical Audit activity using the Clinical Audit register to the Quality & Safety Executive Committee on a quarterly basis and annually to the Executive Management Team through an Annual Report.Undertake national and local clinical audits as appropriate.Assist in the preparation of detailed reports including recommendations and appropriate action plans.Ensure that timely and accurate records are kept of all Clinical Audit activity, action plans and re-audits. Provide tuition, advice and support to clinical and other staff in relation to the Clinical Audit and survey activities.Facilitate Hospital-wide dissemination of audit results using appropriate media to include posters, publications and presentations.Contribute to Hospital-wide Clinical Governance and Clinical Audit induction and teaching sessions, workshops and conferences.Maintain and update knowledge of national developments in Clinical Audit, and feedback to the hospital via appropriate routes.Ensure that the Quality and Safety Manager is kept informed of trends and gaps in service provision.Attend and contribute to meetings and events.Carry out any other duties as appropriate to the post and delegated by the Quality and Safety Manager.
Essential Criteria
This campaign is confined to staff who are currently employed by the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies*, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004 as per Workplace Relations Commission agreement -161867 Candidates must at the closing date:Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004 AndHave obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including Mathematics and English or Irish1. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade C on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination. OrHave completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent examination in another jurisdictionOrHold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland, (QQI) AndCandidates must possess the requisite knowledge & ability (including a high standard of suitability & management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
