Job Description
Our Public Sector client is looking for a Qualified Acountant to join as a Senior Finanical Accountant. This is a 12 months contract role.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the purpose of the role is to provide cover to other Senior Accountants across a range of work carried out by the Financial Management Team and undertake financial projects as required.
The role will involve working as part of the senior finance team to further develop the finance function within the Agency.
KEY TASKS:
1. Review and approve grant payments and payments to creditors, ensuring compliance with key internal controls and procedures, for subsequent approval by CFO
2. Assist in budgeting and financial reporting process
3. Liaise with Auditors, as required.
4. Assist with routine and non routine financial projects as necessary
5. To ensure all tasks fully meets internal and external audit requirements, in terms of timing, quality of information and compliance with procedures and controls;
6. To implement procedures and processes to ensure internal (Executive Committee & Audit Finance & Risk Committee and external (Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment - DETE) reporting deadlines are met;
7. To ensure good relationships are maintained with key stakeholders including internal clients, DETE, C&AG and Internal Auditors;
8. To ensure that continuous learning and development is undertaken through informal and formal learning and participation in the Performance Management and Development Review Process;
9. To ensure that the organisation's values of People, Professionalism, Passion for Performance and Public Service are upheld at all times;
10. To ensure dignity, respect and equality are applied within and outside the Organisation and that a work life balance is supported as much as possible in the workplace;
11. To demonstrate flexibility in undertaking additional tasks that can arise on occasion and contribute to the overall functions of Financial Management.
Requirements
12. A professional accountancy qualification is essential (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA
13. Excellent project management skills
14. Excellent attention to detail and financial analysis skills;
15. Ability to work well under pressure, work flexibly and independently on own initiative;
16. Track record of effective management and training / development of team members;
17. A full driving licence is essential.
