* Registrar in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department in Galway University Hospitals is one of the largest regional centres covering a catchment of 800,000 people. Galway is a beautiful coastal tourist city with a good standard of living and excellent access to sport and recreational amenities. The department has 4 consultants in post, and its rapid expansion requires a cohort of Senior House Officer and Registrar staff for both local and regional service delivery.
The department boasts access to 2-3 day case Oral surgery theatre sessions a week, providing large volume exposure to Oral surgery procedures useful for any trainee wishing to progress onto postgraduate dental training in orthodontics, paediatrics, and oral surgery.
The department has a history of its past trainees progressing onto higher training through its continual drive and mentorship. The department actively works towards education and training running hand in hand with service delivery. Successful applicants will have exposure to head and neck oncology, orthognathic surgery, trauma, implantology, and skin surgery.
Dual qualification and an Irish Dental Council registerable dental degree is preferable. However, aid with registration can be provided. Medical trained applicants are welcome to apply and will be provided with additional training to support them in their role.
