Job Responsibilities:
1. Adherence to the project & Astatine Safety Management system
2. Adherence to relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions & legislation
3. Adherence to Astatine & Environmental, Health & Safety Plans.
4. Coordination in the development of task specific Method statements, risk assessments, safe plan of action, permit to work.
5. Compliance with the project safety statement.
6. Coordination of project safety indicators.
7. Good Safety Practices should be managed & maintained; carrying out ongoing health and safety assessments, control of hazardous substances, and ensuring safety interventions are completed & registered.
8. Carrying out regular site audits and inspections, documenting results and following up on any corrective actions.
9. Keeping records of statutory inspections available for project activities, tools, and plant.
10. Adopt a proactive approach to project EHS requirements.
11. Ability to work either independently or as part of a team.
12. Provide Safety input to site management & at site EHS forums.
13. Ensure project sub-contractors adhere to project EHS policies & procedures.
14. Coordinating Astatine’s site induction & training, also managing & maintaining them.
15. Making sure Project PPE is resourced & available.
16. Compile & carry out Toolbox talks, as necessary.
17. Assisting or carrying out accident investigation reports in a timely manner & ensuring communication to the Mercury project management team.
18. Welfare & hygiene facilities are in place, managed & maintained.
19. Liaison with site Project Management on environmental, health & safety issues.
20. Maintaining up-to-date documentation to be included with the Safety File.
21. Waste reduction and recycling programmes are maintained in line with project policies & procedures.
Essential Criteria for the Role:
1. Relevant third level Certificate qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety
2. 5+ years’ experience of managing environmental, health and safety on large construction sites.
3. Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation
4. Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
5. Ability to efficiently manage all environmental, health and safety issues on site.
6. Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
