Job Title: Locum Staff Grade (Grade II) Clinical or Counselling Psychologist
Loughan House is an open, low-security prison for males who require lower levels of security. The appointed Grade II Psychologist will support the Senior Psychologist and multi-disciplinary team to treat people referred to the IPS Psychology Service.
The Service works with individuals presenting with mental health difficulties, including mood and anxiety disorders, personality and behaviour disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, self-harm and suicidal behaviour, eating disorders, psychosis and schizophrenia, addiction.
Prison-based psychologists have regular contact with community agencies involved in supporting people leaving custody. They also work with families and carers of those in custody.
The IPS Psychology Service provides critical support to the broader organisation through consultation, training, and education. Placements are available for psychologists-in-training, and the Service provides regular input into training programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Senior Psychologist and multi-disciplinary team to treat people referred to the IPS Psychology Service.
* Work with individuals presenting with mental health difficulties, including mood and anxiety disorders, personality and behaviour disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, self-harm and suicidal behaviour, eating disorders, psychosis and schizophrenia, addiction.
* Provide consultation, education, guidance, and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.
Requirements:
* Eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognised by PSI or a postgraduate professional qualification in Counselling Psychology recognised by PSI.
* Experience in addressing emotional, mental health, and/or offence-related difficulties with a forensic or inpatient population.
* Experience of providing consultation, education, guidance, and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.
