Underwriting Controls Manager wanted for Insurance Group-Dublin City
Abrivia are currently recruiting for an Underwriting Controls Manager to join our client, a Large Insurance Company, based in Dublin City. This role will report directly into the Chief Underwriting Officer and will play an integral part in the controls and governance function within the Underwriting department.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background within non-life insurance and a proven track record of working within governance controls.
This role is based 2 days a week in the office and includes an excellent compensation package with healthcare, bonus, pension, 30+ days leave and much more
Your Role:
1. Actively contribute to the Underwriting Management Team, advising on core areas of expertise and participating in key decision-making processes.
2. Demonstrate inclusive leadership, fostering a culture of trusted collaboration and respect within the team and across the organisation.
3. Ensure effective implementation of the Product Oversight & Governance policy, maintaining process and operational effectiveness.
4. Lead the oversight and delivery of the Quality Assurance framework in collaboration with Underwriting, Product, and Pricing teams, ensuring its adequacy for the portfolio of risks.
5. Own the ROCO process, test required controls, and ensure underwriting meets all regulatory obligations efficiently. Act as the Business Assurance Coordinator for underwriting.
6. Ensure business process and underwriting manuals are adequate, regularly reviewed, and comply with regulatory and legal requirements. Manage regulatory/statutory reporting obligations and internal governance reports.
7. Oversee data governance for underwriting in line with the data strategy, manage the data retention project, and ensure ongoing management of underwriting data.
8. Manage operational and regulatory risks by identifying trends and changes in the legislative and regulatory landscape. Coordinate internal, external, and Central Bank audits, and represent the organisation in relevant regulatory engagements.
Your Skills:
9. Possession of relevant professional qualifications (preferably ACII) or a Level 3 qualification.
10. Demonstrated experience within a non-life insurance company or intermediary.
11. Significant experience in business and system analysis within the non-life insurance sector.
12. In-depth knowledge of technical, regulatory, and operational requirements for non-life insurance companies.
13. Strong organisational and time management abilities, with a proven track record of working independently and meeting tight deadlines.
14. Exceptional numeracy and analytical skills, with the capability to interpret data and produce detailed reports.
15. Superior presentation skills.
16. Experience in managing small teams (preferred) and a proven ability to collaborate effectively across various business areas.
