About St Michael’s Credit Union: serving over 12,000 members who live or work in the communities of Blackrock & Mahon. We manage an asset size in excess of €67m and we are located at Skehard Road, Blackrock, Cork.
General Scope of the Role
The Member Services Officer will be accountable to the Assistant Manager for carrying out a range of administrative and operational activities that contribute to the effective running of the credit union.

It is expected that the role holder will embrace the responsibility and accountability entrusted and will help grow St Michaels Credit Union as a financial institution of choice in the community.
This position will have a variety of tasks and responsibilities including:
* Providing members with a courteous professional service face to face, via phone, email, etc.
* Processing of counter and off-counter transactions, including payments, lodgements, express lodgements, withdrawals, taking card payments, processing SCTs, EFTs, and all online transactions, including bill payments and foreign exchange.
* Processing the data input of loan applications and issuing approved loans in an accurate and confidential manner subject to the authorised limits granted by your line manager.
* Accurate handling of cash and reconciling daily balances.
* Dealing with new member applications.
* Assisting members with their account management, helping members avail of the range of services offered by SMCU – loans, payroll deduction, direct debit, standing order, online registrations, etc.
* Back-office administration/operational support duties as may be required and/or requested by management.
* Ensuring compliance with data protection legislation, regulations, and credit union policies and procedures.
The successful candidate should have the following attributes:
* Professional manner and ability to communicate in person and over the telephone.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Attention to detail, managing tasks with accuracy and personal accountability.
* Accurately and competently handling cash; reconciling cash balances daily.
* Self-motivated with a willingness to learn, contribute, and work effectively as an individual and within a team structure.
* Productive work habits, strong time management, efficient and well-organised with attention to detail.
* Flexible and adaptable, ready to join a highly efficient team that prides itself on delivering the highest standards of service to our members.
* Hold a professional qualification, preferably finance or business related. An accredited qualification such as QFA, CUA, ACCUP, APA loans is desirable (or to be actively working towards obtaining qualification). The Credit Union will provide financial support for the successful candidate to obtain a suitable qualification e.g. APA Loans / QFA where it is not held currently.
* An understanding of the ethos of credit unions.
