Job Title: Draughtsperson, Drawing & Design Office Salary: € 48,536 Reports to: Manager, Drawing & Design Office Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday JOB PURPOSE: To provide engineering solutions (mechanical & structures field) to technical issues on I Rolling Stock Fleet. To ensure that the solutions arrived at maintain safety and reliability. KEY QUALITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE): Essential: An Engineering Qualification(s). Trade Level Minimum. Extensive knowledge of mechanical & structural systems. Working knowledge of the strength characteristics of materials. Working knowledge of the Safety Management System. Technical Ability / Fault Finding. An understanding of how Rolling Stock Systems operate. Understands engineering drawings and conventions. IT Skills to a proficient standard (MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) Experience using CAD (Computer Aided Design), including 3D modelling. Ability to Lead a Team. Ability to mentor and guide junior members of the team. Desirable: Higher qualification in engineering, e.g. diploma or degree. Experience of operating the Safety Management System including the lead. Knowledge of International Standards for Railway Engineering. Proficiency in the use of CAD (Microstation), both 2D and 3D. Proficiency in the use of Adobe Illustrator. Experience in producing 3D printed prototypes. RESPONSIBILITIES Undertake investigations into technical issues reported to the Drawing & Design Office and develop solutions to overcome same. To Lead the Mechanical/Structures section of the Drawing & Design Office. The design of engineering modifications for rolling stock. Conduct risk assessments to evaluate the potential risks associated with modifications made. To produce the requisite engineering drawings as required using the CAD system. To produce where appropriate, prototype assemblies using the 3D Printer. To produce all additional engineering documentation as required, including but not limited to Engineering Change Instructions (ECI) in the format required by the CME document management system. The management, cataloguing and filing of drawings and other associated documents. The preparation of letters, memos and reports as required by the CME Technical Manager. To participate fully in the Engineering Change Request process as prescribed by the CME. To lead as required a Departmental process for safety validation, as a Project Manager. To participate as required in Departmental process for safety validation, as a Technical Specialist. To participate as required in the Company process for safety validation, as a Technical Specialist. To participate as required on any remit assigned by the CME Technical Manager. To assess the work of other team members as part of a peer review process. To assume the role of mentor to new/junior members of the Drawing & Design Office team. To assist as required on rolling stock projects. To draft or revise Technical Management Standards. Successful candidates will be shortlisted and invited for a short interview.
