Job Title: Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
Location: Hybrid / Ireland & Northern Ireland
Reports To: Line Manager

Job Summary:
The Health, Safety & Environmental Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing client’s health and safety requirements to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. This role requires strong knowledge of regulatory standards, risk management expertise, and the ability to foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Additionally, the HSE manager will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and maintaining clients ISO management systems for Safety, Environmental and Quality. This role ensures clients are compliant with the accreditation standards and supports continuous improvement efforts to create a safer work environment. The HSE manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to embed health and safety principles within all aspects of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Health & Safety Policy Development
* Develop, update, and enforce the company’s health and safety policies and procedures in alignment with current regulations and industry best practices.
* Ensure that all policies are communicated clearly and consistently applied across all levels of the organization.
* Risk Assessment and Management
* Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Develop strategies to minimize risks and prevent accidents, injuries, or incidents.
* Training and Education
* Create and implement health and safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations, refresher courses, and specific hazard-based training.
* Ensure that training materials are updated and accessible, and that training sessions meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
* Incident Management
* Lead investigations of accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions; prepare incident reports and maintain records in compliance with regulatory standards.
* Recommend corrective actions and monitor follow-up to ensure issues are resolved.
* Regulatory Compliance
* Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
* Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate implications to the organization.
* Management System Compliance
* Assist in the development, implementation, and management of the ISO accreditation for clients that DSS manage
* Ensure the organization’s policies, procedures, and practices align with standards and support a culture of safety.
* Reporting and Documentation
* Prepare regular health and safety performance reports, including metrics on incident rates, training completion, and risk management outcomes.
* Maintain accurate records related to safety inspections, training, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
Key Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a health and safety management role, preferably within Construction or Utilities industry.
* Technical Skills: Knowledge of health and safety software, risk assessment tools, and data analysis.
* Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ISO Management Systems, EPA, and other relevant health and safety regulations.

* Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop strategic solutions.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey safety policies and procedures.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to assess complex situations and develop proactive, practical solutions.
* Leadership: Proven leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and influence safety practices.
* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially in documentation and reporting.
Working Conditions:
* Environment: Combination of remote office setting and on-site visits to various work locations to meet client requirements.
* Travel: Moderate travel to different company sites or facilities may be required.
