Who We Are Looking For
A talented Oracle (OCI) database administrator to join the Insurance Database Operations team. The database team is responsible for the design, administration, and daily operation of critical systems that support our clients' Production, Disaster Recovery, and Test environments in a cloud database environment, with a heavy emphasis on Oracle @ Azure.
We are seeking an expert Oracle database engineer in an Azure environment, preferably with skills in Oracle database performance engineering, T-SQL development, automation, and administration. The candidate will be responsible for identifying performance bottlenecks and performing query tuning in Oracle. Strong knowledge of Oracle database internals, design patterns, and problem-solving abilities are essential.

What You Will Be Responsible For
1. Database Administration: Install, upgrade, and patch Oracle databases.
2. Cloud-Specific Tasks: Manage OCI components like Object Storage, Compute Instances, and Virtual Cloud Networks (VCN).
3. Data Replication: Set up and manage Oracle GoldenGate and Data Guard for high availability.
4. Security and Compliance: Implement encryption (TDE), manage certificates, and support vulnerability management tools.
5. Performance Optimization: Tune SQL and database performance using OEM for monitoring.
6. Backup and Recovery: Manage RMAN backups and recovery procedures.
7. User Management: Manage database user accounts and privileges.
8. Security: Ensure security configurations such as DB Vault are properly implemented.
9. Cloud Migration: Support migration of databases to and from the cloud.
10. Collaboration: Work with development teams to understand application requirements and integrate them with the database environment.
11. Technical Skills: Demonstrate expert-level experience with T-SQL and Powershell.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field.
- 6-8 years of experience with large Oracle databases in a 24/7 environment.
- 3+ years of experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and its services.
- Experience with GoldenGate, Data Guard, and RAC.
- Familiarity with security best practices and tools.
- Experience with RMAN for backups and recovery.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with IT teams.
- Good understanding of database encryption, high availability, disaster recovery, replication, and backup/restore.
- Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive attitude.
- Customer service orientation, ownership, and accountability.
